Aggies blog about the cultural representation of Black women and the literature they produce. We center the lived experience of the Black woman as represented in literature and the terms and conditions on which she projects her own agency amidst society’s denial of it. We aim to use this place as a site of valuable information, and a space to challenge traditional paradigms about the Black woman’s identity and experience.

The Average Black Girl
I seen this video on Facebook a week ago and it really spoke to me. I feel Ernestine Johnson hits on a lot of points that we discussed in class throughout unit 1 in her poem.
Loved this video! I also thought about it during our discussions. I believe that many people shouldn't deem that phrase as all the way negative. Although the wording is not the best, there are many awesome black women that I would be honored to be compared to. However, people tend to forget the past and go off of what they see portrayed in the media.
I also saw this video a couple weeks ago, I really liked some of the points that she talked about, but I also agree with Shatoria there are many black women that I would like to be compared too, that has set a positive image for black women in our society but of course that is over looked most of the time.
